The Irish wolfhound

I finally managed to complete the Irish wolfhound I’d been working on – a life-size sculpture at a height of 1.17m.  To compliment the space the sculpture was designed for, it was finished in black.  Before the paint was applied, the look of the ground and polished steel mimicked the natural colours of the wolfhound’s coat beautifully, whilst the many reclaimed objects built up really nicely to suggest the texture of the fur.

Meeting  Jan Pain,  drawing upon her wealth of wolfhound knowledge and of course – spending time with her beautiful hound Fidelia, has been a constant source of reference throughout the process of construction.

I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Jan.  This piece certainly wouldn’t be what it is without her help.
