The British Bird of Prey Centre, Llanarthne

Located in the National Botanical Garden of Wales, Llanarthne, The British Bird of Prey Centre is a ‘specialist collection of British raptors which focuses on the welfare and conservation of our native species of birds of prey’. Offering the opportunity for people to interact with, and learn about, the birds of prey found here in the UK, the centre hopes to inspire communities enough to ensure their longevity.  I’ve had a fascination with birds of prey for longer than I care to remember, and feel utterly blessed to have this facility right on my doorstep.

A recent visit to the centre inspired to me to create a new piece based on the goshawk – one of the raptors currently residing at the centre and a very firm favourite of mine. Not only a pleasure to create, the new piece has also forged the start of a new relationship with the Lion Street Gallery in Hay on Wye who, having seen the piece, have since exhibited it.
