Some time ago I stayed in a small fishing cottage at the very edge of a saltmarsh, a haven for many different wading birds. I watched as they’d appear at different times in the changing tide. Like nature’s theatre, they all took their turn on centre stage.
Almost like caricatures of birds with their exaggerated features, different beaks for hunting, foraging, sifting the shallows. The curlew, with its long curved beak, was the star of the show for me, and a sculpture I’ve had in mind for a long time.
I’m very happy to have this piece join works by many brilliant artists at Mimosa Gallery in Llandeilo.
